In EU countries, the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EC regulates the certification procedure and requirement to access the European radio market, which replaces the previous Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (RTTED) 1999/5/EC. Generally, it covers the requirements on safety, EMC and radio. The detailed technical requirements are presented in a series of harmonized standards. A notified body is required to evaluate the lab testing results and provide opinion for the compliance. A CE mark could and shall be affixed on the product after getting RED compliance approval.
